Cover illustration for 013 Straatjes | 10th edition 2026
For the 10th edition of the 013 Straatjes City Guide, I created a cover inspired by Tilburg, its people and its creative energy. The concept is titled Kruikbestuiving, a playful reference to Tilburg’s nickname Kruikenstad and the idea of the city constantly cross-pollinating through new ideas, collaborations and initiatives.
A large, growing plant winds its way across the cover, representing Tilburg as a city that is constantly developing and getting greener: lively, creative and diverse. The hands represent the makers, entrepreneurs and residents who create, build and inspire each other. At the same time, the plant forms one continuous thread, referencing Tilburg’s history as a textile city and the network of streets running through it.
Inside the cover, the plant pollinates itself and the city around it: a visual metaphor for connection, collaboration and continuing to grow from your own roots.
The analogue textures were created by hand, adding a tactile, imperfect quality that echoes the raw and authentic character of Tilburg.
